Community Canines
Dogs unable to achieve the skills required to be Autism Assistance Canines are placed as pets with families and agencies for therapeutic work.
We believe that a dog can make a remarkable difference in the lives of children
and youth by fostering caring, companionship and a sense of responsibility through partnership. This connection can provide a positive context for them to acquire
essential skills to lead a fuller life. Children or youth experiencing a psychological, developmental or mental health challenge (unrelated to Autism) that can be helped
through partnering with a community canine can benefit from this program.
Community canines may also placed with agencies as Canine-Assisted Therapy dogs.
These dogs are selected to support our mission by working with professionals who are promoting the health and welfare of children and youth with special needs.
